4Very good soldering iron. But, ...  May 12, 2011 By William J. Blesener "wild will"
I bought the SP23L about 3 months ago, but, I have not used it yet (till today)! I needed to build a audio amp from a kit.
It did not take long, at all. I was somewhat impressed (good news/bad news senario!) with it. GOOD NEWS: Best part, is the tip heats pretty fast and "attracts" very little solder! Most tips seem to "suck it up" and thourghly coat a soldering tip. You seem to waste a lot on the tips!hahaha I thought, I would not like the round tip. My last soldering iron (>25 yr. old.!!) tip, had a chisel point. With the round tip, it is easy to change position, move the soldering iron from one component to another, tip is ready all the time (360 degrees). Chisel points, can't do that!! Seriously, the tip is very impressive (5 stars!!)
Now the bad news: 25 watts is just fair!! It should have at least 30-35 watts, instead. Any large copper pad or large component (ie: trimmer resistor, electrolitic cap, etc.) takes a short while to heat! Yes Yes! My fault for buying a 25 W iron... KD6BIH

2mine doesnt get hot enough anymore  Nov 08, 2011 By wozzy
mine came as a small kit with different tips, the solder tip for electronic type stuff doesnt heat up as good as the other tips, idk why, but i would get another iron. owned it for maybe 8 months, and rarely used it.
