A fine product. May 25, 2007
By Damon Z. Cassell This is a very heavy duty soldering iron, for when you need a lot of thermal mass behind a soldering job. Excellent for very heavy guage wire, and in my case, stainless and teflon ham radio coaxial cable connectors. No problems with this product at all..

120 Watt Soldering Iron Jun 20, 2011
By T. MCKINNEY The Weller SP120 120 watt soldering iron is large and able to handle big jobs with ease. I ordered it for installing PL-259 UHF connectors on coaxial cable. I have not used it for this task yet but I did use it for soldering copper foil strips together and for soldering a 1 inch tinned copper braid to the copper foil. This iron work great for the large braid and copper foil. It is massive enough to solder these large items without a drop in temperature. The tip has a good nickel plating which makes soldering easier and it is easy to clean when you are finished. I highly recommend this iron for large soldering jobs.
Enough heat for soldering large wires. Apr 10, 2012

This delivered enough heat for soldering high current tabs onto 1 square inch PC board landings. Note it is over 11 inches long and has a 1/2inch diameter tip. Reaches 900 degrees F. The cord is, as expected, short. And think ahead about where you are going to lay it down when it is hot. It gets quite hot so needs cleaning and retinning. Perfect for working with heavy guage wire and power electronics.
wow its huge Dec 13, 2011
By skipjagger i should have payed attention to the lenght on the discription this thing is HUGE!!!! i was thinking i could just snag a new tip and solder smaller connections NOPE! my bad the thing is awesome though, i soldered a whole wirness for a camaro with it. the thing heats up the wire sooo much faster than my old one.even though its heavy and big it actually fits in alot of places i thought it would not. im giving it five stars cause it saved me time and its my own fault i didnt check the size. the tip on it is almost as wide as a dime. but tatally worth the 35 bux and free shipping. this was my first experiece with a weller product. very good quality have had no problems what so ever plug it in, it gets hot. i actually just bought a weller 60 watt for ten bux free shipping (also on amazon) for the smaller stuff will comtinue to buy weller products
