lovely torch-ette Nov 02, 2007
By Benjamin Treuhaft My only regret is that I didn't order two or more considering the shipping was the same price as the torch. -blt

Bad Without Modification Dec 25, 2010
By Joel S I picked one of these up because it looked like a neat little thing to have around. When I got home I was disappointed when after filling it with fuel that the flame wouldn't catch. Eventually after many clicks I got it to hold a flame, but it was more a game of chance than reliability. So out of box it's pretty much useless as a use-able tool.
However, I decided to try modifying it some.I popped off the bottom piece of plastic (You can just prop it up a little with a screw driver or anything that can get inside the tiny gap between the plastic and the body, then just pull off the plastic) that controls flame height, and underneath was a small bit of plastic that prevents the flame height controller to be moved any further. I took some nail snipers and sniped off the plastic and snapped back on the plastic flame controller.
Now I can adjust the flame height much further than what the manufacturer allowed, and it actually works how I imagined it would when I first purchased it! It seems as if they limited the flame height just a bit too low when they made it; not high enough to actually allow the flame to be ignited properly.
Works like crap at first, but with simple modification it works how it should.

Absolute Junk May 01, 2008
By J. Huber I have two and they are both worthless. They fail to light or stay lit. Even if they did light, the striker is extremely stiff and hard to press.
Stay away from this one.

Waste of Money Apr 10, 2008
By quanarose I bought 3. One still works . . . sometimes. I have had them less than two months.
Expected Better from Weller - Don't waste your money! Mar 14, 2012
By G-Man Worked pretty good when I first got it. Used exclusively for melting the ends of paracord projects so it never saw heavy use. After a couple of months it started getting temperamental about lighting. Now less than 6 months later, the entire plastic mechanism that activates the valve and igniter has worn out to the point where it no longer works. I have only filled this lighter about 6 or 7 times to give you an idea of how much it has been used. I have used many Weller soldering guns and irons over the last 40 years and they were always good products. I can't believe that they put their good name on a piece of junk like this. I would give this less than one star if I could. Save your money and pass this one by.
