1description is wrong, but a good soldering gun  Nov 23, 2010 By Walker
this is a great soldering gun. The tip will heat up to the high temperature very rapidly. None of that annoying buzzing as with other types of gun. It heats up just as if it were a 400 watt pencil iron. The work light is a bit dim, but that is not an important feature to me.

The tip will heat up and then adjust wattage, maintaining the temperature. The tip is like a very large soldering iron, and is not replaceable.... the entire heating assembly would need to be replaced if you need to replace the tip (and that can be expensive). There is only the one tip, so you won't have options like a cutting tip or a flat tip, etc. The cord is a 2 wire cord, not grounded.

The trigger seems to have a long pull, but there is only one power setting - the unit will adjust automatically, so you don't have a high and a low setting. The grip is a bit larger than the smaller other brands, and it is not nearly as heavy (this is quite light in weight). Feel is very sturdy however. It's hot enough that it is almost too much for 12ga wire and a battery terminal - when heated up, it solders very quickly (Which is what I wanted).

The reason for the low review - the description CLEARLY states that this comes with TWO (2) TE Tip Assemblies in the case, and this is incorrect - it is only one. This same brand is sold elsewhere, for $20 less, which is a better deal. With 2 tip assemblies, the $80 price tag is a good deal, with the ONE in the box, it is not a good deal for the money.

Still a great soldering gun, but watch for better prices in other packages.

5Second to none in soldering  Jun 19, 2011 By Ahmad H. Bu Hazzaa
This soldering gun has none to compete with. It stands alone in both soldering and time saving. It is fast and safe to use plus you will never need any soldering paste to do the job. I travel all over the world and because of my natural job as an electronic engineer who uses soldering quite often and sometimes obliged to use an electrical adapter to change the voltage from 240v to 110v all those who saw it were really impressed to see the performance of such a fantastic soldering gun. The very important aspect of this gun is you don't need to tin to start with and despite the fact it has a fairly big tip you still can use it for minute soldering tasks and materials.
Guys don't waste your time looking for other soldering iron or gun, get this one and save a hustle.

5This hot little number is great  Jan 30, 2011 By Lawrence
You won,t find a better or more useable and pratical soldering gun, than this Wall Lenk LG-400, the heavy duty end would,nt bend or break off like these cheap guns. The built in light makes soldering in dark places a breeze. It heats up fast, no waiting 2-3 minutes to solder heavy wire. I have had one for 5 years and only had to clean up the end sometimes, and I would still be using it if I didn,t run over it with the car, its tough built ,but would,nt take 2000 pounds on it. I use it 2-5 times a week and it held up well, I would recommend it any time ,after having used so many other types, most of them were only 150-250 watts and they called them Heavy Duty, this one starts out at 400 watts and the next one I think is 500 watts, now thats real Heavy duty, my next one if I forget to take this one out from under the car after a soldering job, an expensive mistake but this gun is worth the price . And I don,t give good reviews unless I have tried them and proved them in real working conditions.

5A perfect product.  Dec 16, 2011 By Nik Willmore
Using a 7.5 watt instead of 4 watt "Christmas light bulb" helps, as does disassembling the gun and re-epoxying the socket further forward. This thing heats up very fast unlike anything I've ever used, but unlike butane models it does not get so hot that the resin core of electrical solder evaporates before it can clean the metal. The tip has a solid copper core and once it becomes blunt and pitted the tip can readily be reground on any grinder to a fresh copper cone inside of a chrome plated (I assume) steel tube and re-tinned. The best thing about it for me as I make lamps with it is that the trigger shuts it off for real, every time I set it down, yet it's ready to solder in only a few seconds and can handle full sized electrical wire unlike most pencil irons. I just noticed 25 watt 25T8C candelabra base bulbs that might also fit.

5Hot!  May 19, 2011 By Joshua Cargile "Beancounter"
Bought used to repair a cracked radiator. It heats up incredibly quickly and made what could've been a very tedious and time consuming job much quicker. I couldn't be happier.
