A Good Garden Trowel Jun 24, 2009
By Peter Paul van Dijk I've used this Wolf garden trowel for about 2 years now, and apart from changing the blade from shiny to 'brushed steel' look, it does not show its age and (ab)use. It gets regular modest use in garden beds and mixing potting soil, but it has also been used quite a few times for heavy-duty use like working my cousin's clay-and-rocks garden. Over the years I have destroyed quite a few cheaper trowels, mostly by bending and breaking the handle-blade attachment, but this Wolf trowel is solid enough, and the thick stainless steel bent in just the right way, that this trowel just has no flex or play. Proper German engineering! I have small hands, but the generous handle diameter does not bother me; quite the opposite, it gives good, broad grip without straining my hand. The only reason for me not to give it five stars is that the angle of the handle to the blade is 'traditional' and not perfectly ergonomic; if your wrists are tender, consider the Radius trowel Radius Garden Natural Radius Grip Trowel #100. Update July 2010: Wolf has redesigned the handle on these trowels, and the new design now has a broad end 'button' surface to push down on: http://www.amazon.de/Tom-Garten-Pflanzenkelle-LU-2P/dp/B001QB7K46/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1278872002&sr=1-3 Unfortunately that version is not available in the USA (yet), but looks like a five-star item to me. Finally a practical tip: when you have some silicone sealant handy, use some to seal off the gaps where the steel blade enters the plastic handle, above and underside - it prevents mud from getting inside the handle and thus keeps the trowel cleaner, and easier to clean.

One tough puppy Apr 04, 2007
By magyarok Forged (or cast) as one piece, this trowel withstands substantial abuse and doesn't show it. As it is not welded together, there are few if any weak links. The red-orange colored handle makes it easy to spot amongst the foilage. As the handle has a larger circumference than many other trowels, those with smaller hands may wish to consider something else.

Quality Trowel , will shop WOLF - Garten again. May 23, 2010
By Scott Sundberg I've been using this for 3 to 4 years after the one I bought from Home Depot broke after 1 year. It has served me well.
