Better than it's baby brother Mar 22, 2001 If you have ever used the 7" Speed Square or a framing square, you will find this to be the best of both worlds. All the features of the Speed Square, but bigger. All the utility of the framing square but smaller. I use it a lot for cutting 1x12 boards. And making backside pitch cuts on plywood.

Excellent! Apr 30, 2002

The originators of the Speed Square still make the best ...... and the 12" is the best of the best. Solid construction and easily read markings that won't wear off like paint set it apart from other brands.

SEVEN TOOLS IN ONE! Nov 07, 2002

This works as a Tri Square, Miter Square, Protractor, Line Scriber, Saw Guide and Stair Guage! I guess the "seventh" tool job it performs as is a straight edge! It comes with a movable layout bar to fit out of square corners. The numbers are big enough to read and just an all around good product. It comes with a handy pocket sized booklet with useful information and INSTRUCTIONS for use.

Heavy Duty, but Lacks Etched Markings (Wide Stamped-Less Accurate) Jul 27, 2010
By TechGuy

Heavy weight aluminum alloy has a matte forged look with large molded markings (2-3 times size in width compared to tape measure markings). [Would be better if polished finish with etched markings, which are far more accurate.] I would not rely on markings for any work requiring very accurate measurements-not possible with this speed-square. OK for general construction use. It is very large, but the size makes it more usefull for general work where one has to draw uninterrupted lines.

Biiiiiig Jan 09, 2007
By Never Measure This square is big. I used to think it was too big. Then I started using it as saw guide whenever I cut 12" Shelving. That seems to be the true calling for this square. Probably would work great for cutting big rafters too but isn't that what a framing square with gauges is for? The seven inch model is much more practical
