Have ground and graduated main vials. These vials are adjustable to a positive setting and are housed in a satin finished brass tube with a friction-fit closing cover to prevent breakage. The base of the levels features an involute groove running the length of the base. With the cross test vial, it is possible to simultaneously level in both directions.

5This IS Starrett's 4" Level  Jul 09, 2010 By N. Boyle "Catmandew"
I wanted to write this after seeing the only other review. First, the pic is a stock photo from Starret. You will see it if you visit their website. Second, if you visit their website you will also find out that they only offer the 4" model with the single bubble. You need to go up to the 6" or bigger to get the cross bubble. There is nothing wrong this level; it works great for what is meant for.
