Great Idea Dec 11, 2009
By Willy I won't repeat what the other reviewers said except that this ratchet is great for the rotating handle function. With that said, make sure you don't overpay for it. It sells for $22 at Walmart. Don't pay the extremely inflated cost of $37 + almost $5 shipping through an Amazon merchant for it.

The Stanley rotator ratchet is a great idea. By turning the handle you can get the nut "started" on the threads. Terrific for working in tight areas. It's made in China, it seems to be well made. The price is right. It makes a great gift for the home mechanic.

By angie It's awesome, and you should have one. In fact, you should get two, because someone *will* end up permanently borrowing yours. You know what? Just get three and send one to me because mine broke when it got used as a hammer.
Also? Don't use it like a hammer.
Seriously though, this is a great design. It's sturdy and well-built; mine lasted through several years of abuse as a ratchet/hammer/prybar. There's enough teeth for even your smallest movements to operate it. The ball bearing never stuck, the head never got loose, the handle never felt like it was going to fall apart. Mine actually still works, I just can't change the direction.

Indispensable Feb 03, 2012
By W. Ball I just bought another one of these today simply to have a spare should I misplace the one I've had for years. I've been using the Husky's version (sold at Home Depot) for 5 or 6 years, and it is a lifesaver in tight places where a regular ratchet has no swing room, and it is an arm saver when you can simply twist bolts and nuts on and off without having to swing the tool. It's clever design that ratchets in ONE DIRECTION as you twist back and forth is the key feature. Also, it works just like a regular ratchet if you don't twist it, so you can generate a lot of torque if needed as well. The tool takes a beating too. The Stanley and Husky tools appear identical excepting color and branding. Probably made at the same source. I consider this tool a major convenience tool on par with the Gearwrench. Both have made some formerly time-consuming nut and bolt operations a total snap. I've encountered some situations where it might take 20 minutes of face-by-face turns of a nut or bolt to remove it with a traditional wrench or ratchet, where these tools have them out in 20 seconds. So, I rarely us any other ratchet at all any more.

Great idea Sep 09, 2011
By the_Corvette_guy First of all, don't be skeptical because it is inexpensive (when it comes to tools) it is a brilliant design and works well. So ingenious that it has patent numbers all over it because it's only a matter of time before everyone tries to rip off their idea. It has a very sturdy feel to it and has a lifetime warranty. What more could you ask for other than it does what it advertises and will be replaced if broken. The coolest thing about it is that it will ratchet the direction you want regardless which way you twist the handle, PERFECT for those tight spots! Highly recommended to all. Great job Stanley for delivering Pro level ingenuity at do-it-yourselfers pricing.
