Stanley Mini Plier Set - Nice Set, Just Watch The Price Dec 29, 2008
By Mark
"Technology, Music and Movies"
I recently purchased the Stanley 84-079 6-Piece Bi-Material Mini Plier Set from my local big-box hardware retailer with some extra gift certificate cash I had. The primary reason for me purchasing this set is that the cost was less than that of individually purchasing the three needle nosed pliers that are included. Quite frankly I have little use for the other pliers, at least right now. But it's always nice to have some extras on hand.
The handles are somewhat standard for stanley toos, but definitely give a nice grippable surface to hold onto. I assume that the yellow accents are there for a *branding* reason to make these tools easily identifiable as Stanley. I can't see a functional purpose for them otherwise.
One thing that is very strange to me is the fluxuation of the price as I've seen it here. Rather than the list price staying the same and the current price representing the percentage difference, the price itself seems to change. Needless to say, I paid about half of what the price is here. This is a standard set that is sold everywhere so look into it before you purchase.
Definitely very useful for the electrical hobbiest, and at the right price this set can be a good value.
Enjoy.

Nice tools, but be sure you know what you are getting Mar 27, 2011
By Christopher T. Dahle These are very small tools. They are perfect for hobby and electronics use, but don't try to use them on heavy household projects. They just aren't made for it.
I bought a set of these for my electronics bench. I use them for clipping leads, bending and forming music wire and gripping and twisting small fasteners. I bought a second set for my kids who have recently reached the "lets take it apart stage". They are perfectly sized for kid hands and work well for taking apart and hacking broken toys.
These are well made little tools and I have been guilty of using them on heavier things than I ought. If I was pressed to complain about anything, it would be that the rubber grips do tend to slip off the handles, but this was easily fixed by slipping off the grips and then re-affixing them with a couple of drops of "Gorilla Glue".
Do shop around. The price shown here seems a bit high.
great items for price May 01, 2012
By erion There better material tools made but for price they preaty good handy tools to work with it does the job and good size to carry for technical purposes
Uncomfortable Plier Set Mar 30, 2012
By Rebecca Conner Feel cheap and spring squeak when you clamp down (might be normal). Smaller than I was hoping and uncomfortable to use. Next time I get pliers, after these break, I'll get a better quality set. But for now, they do the job.
Cheap tools that do the job. Mar 15, 2012
By Sav I bought this to throw in my range bag. I didn't want to haul around $300 worth of my Snap-On and Matco tools, so I bought these. They've survived a couple trips to the range and haven't fallen apart yet. Yeah, they're not top quality stuff, but they're Stanley, so they're not Chinese garbage (I dunno, they may be made in China, but they're not the crap you usually get from China). They do the job and nothing more. They've helped me in a pinch several times. They do the job, work well enough, and they've held together admirably. They're the perfect size for getting in to tight spots, and they make quick work of what would be challenging with only a Leatherman (never leave home without it). So what? They're not what you'll get from the Mac tool guy, but for beat around tools, I've been surprised at what these little guys can do! I'll bet that you will too.
