5Buy more than one  Jan 10, 2006 By Name I Didn't Want
A favorite local tool shop that I frequent had a display of these on the counter. I was intrigued by the novelty of the design and after playing with the testable display I decided to lay out the $9 for one to try it on the job. This nailset works better, faster, easier and more precisely than any other nailset I have used. Example: you've just run oak crown in a room with a 12' ceiling and have a few nailheads sticking up. Instead of wearing your full belt, pulling out your hammer and trying to find the right size Stanley nailset, skipping off the nailhead- you just take the nailmaster, flip to the desired end, pull back, and SNAP! A month later I bought about 10 of them for Christmas presents to my employees and clients...Then I lost mine! On a more recent trip to Electric Tool I bought myself 3 of the nailmaster type and one each of the chisel and punch and promptly tagged them with marking paint to prevent future loss.

Being a contractor who works in a broad range of trades, I would guess that I have about $45K in various power and hand tools including the likes of Bosch, Powermatic and Festool. Funny how the two favorite tools in my collection are a nailset and my folding dozuki ... cost of each <$25. Only improvements I could suggest are rubber grips in high visibility colors.

5works great  Dec 22, 2008 By EEmajor
You might need some rubber gloves to attenuate the effect of the impact on the fingers, but this works great. It is small but the spring is strong and avoid any rebound on impact so all the force gets transmitted into the target. 3 knocks and the nail will go all the way through. More precise than a hammer as you can hold it in place before pulling the spring with the other hand.
In some instances, better than a hammer and especially where there is not much space. I've used it to drive nails into hardwood flooring when I get close to the wall and the pneumatic hammer can't be used (not enough space to swing). I also pre-drilled a hole in order to avoid splitting the wood but this tool will drive a nail into wood without a problem. I've also used some of the other chisel tools which work OK but I've not really had a problem using a standard chisel and hammer as much.

4SpringTools  Jun 08, 2007 By Dan Kluckhuhn "Dan"
I've had several of the nail set "snappers" and love 'em. But, you have to be careful and not extend the spring too far or one end will come off or you will stretch the spring. So, if you are trying to set a larger nail in hard wood, this may not be the best solution because you can't exert enough force without destoying the tool. But it's great for setting small nails without displacing one of the pieces you're nailing.

5Wish we'd had this sooner  Jan 11, 2012 By D. Morris
My husband and I had just finished redecorating his "man cave" and lost count of the nails and screws we had to put in the sheetrock to display his "stuff". The hardest part was beginning to drill a screw into the sheetrock when there was no guiding hole there. The screw just buckeled out from under my husband's drill. When I came across these, I decided our next decorating project would be a lot easier. My husband tried one out and said he liked them already.

5spring load nail sets  May 23, 2011 By jffwlczk
6+ years ago I was on job site, (finish Carpenter) & I kept hearing an odd sound coming from were the painters were working. Noticing that they carried no hammer & punch, I curiously asked what they were using. out of the pocket he showed me the springtool nail set, gave a demonstration, and I was sold! haven't picked up a nail punch since.
I call it my " Ba-Dinka" - that's the sound you hear "Ba-Dink", & your nail is set perfectly. Awesome little tool, worth its weight in gold!
