I have owned many, many Mr. Heater products. They have ALL worked very well. If it says Mr. Heater on it, you will be happy with it. This adapter is no different. It works perfectly and I'll buy more when I need them...

Mr. Heater Propane Male Throwaway Cylinder Adapter 1-20 Male Throwaway Cylinder Thread X 1/4 Inch FEMALE Pipe Thread #F276140 lacks a center sealing sleeve and an o-ring: You must use this with a device that shuts off the flow of gas, like on the end of a hose attached to a 20# propane cylinder. If you forget to shut off the tank when disconnecting the appliance, you'll be in for a high-pressure surprise. Hopefully, you won't do it near an open flame like a grill or campfire! Jack is right, this product IS dangerous!
However, Mr. Heater F273755 1/4" MALE Pipe Thread x 1"-20 Male Throwaway Cylinder Thread Fitting does have the center sealing sleeve and o-ring: it shuts off the flow of gas when you disconnect the appliance.
I bought the F276140 thinking I wouldn't have to purchase a 1/4" female X 1/4" female adapter. WRONG!
Mr. Heater dropped the ball on this one. I even went to their website before ordering to look at the description or for a better picture. The description of the product is poor, not pointing out it doesn't shut off the flow of gas when disconnected. A better picture would have sufficed: one showing the middle of the fitting with a 1/4" full flow hole in it.
Amazon did me right, refunding my money and paying for return shipping since the item isn't described correctly.

This fitting F276140 is designed VERY DANGEROUSLY, in that it lacks the center sealing sleeve and an o-ring, and relies solely on a thin rubber washer-like seal in the appliance to make a high-pressure seal (all other similar couplers have a center sealing sleeve and an o-ring in the center).
Additionally, in the unit I got the brass sealing surface was scuffed up, and the threads were cut very rough.
Overall, a piece of dangerous junk, especially if used without a flow-limiting device that would activate in case the thin rubber on the appliance side cracks and blows.

The adapter works as designed however be sure your order the right one or you'll have to try and return it.
