Great saw--hard to store Sep 12, 2009
By Samuel Dachs Great saw--works perfectly--but when it is stored--the oil leaks from the reservoir on to the blades, which are not running, and on to the floor of the garage--
a real mess

Toy Sep 17, 2010
By Dorr Felt Tippens Out of the box, the chain oiler cap was stripped. As expected, the chain loosened up; but surprisingly quickly ... (less than 10 minutes and derailed.) Getting the chain back on the sprockets and tightening it was surprisingly difficult. No box hex wrench was provided (needed as there's no room for a crescent wrench.) Within the next 40 minutes I had to tighten the chain three more times (a 15 minute process.) There is no easy way to lever the bar out to put tension on the chain as all the leverage points are flexible plastic not designed to withstand the force required to apply the modest tension needed. Within an hour, the chain was dull (all the while I had been very attentive at keeping the chain well lubricated having filled the chain lubricant reservoir four times.) I had it professionally sharpened and it dulled up again after one, 8" cut: clearly a low quality chain that had lost its temper. In less than a total of three hours of usage, 2 bolts holding a cover plate in place (necessary to remove each and every time the chain is tightened) stripped (I'm a licensed contractor ... I know how to remove bolts); the motor assembly started "floating" thereby repeatedly pushing the chain off the gear cogs attached to the motor shaft; and a flimsy, plastic post holding the housing together had mysteriously snapped in half. Conclusion: disposable toy; cheaper to rent.
Light weight powerhouse Apr 16, 2012
By Harry Welte This McCullouch is three pounds lighter than my older model, and every bit as powerful. The oil resevoir is small and the manual states it needs pumping to ensure delivery; and any remaining oil will drain out with time, so it needs to be removed for long term storage. It is a basic, no-frills model, but hey, for the price it is a steal!
Great For Light Work Mar 21, 2012
By JMP100 Had this saw for a few years. Only issue is it leaks oil. Remedy? Check / tighten oil cap and store it upside down or empty reservoir when you are done cutting. Correct chain replacement is an Oregon S49. I've used it to cut oak and maple up to about 5". Nice little pruner saw, light.
