4Righ Tool For The Job  Apr 05, 2008 By Poolmon
This tool makes downspout work much much easier and faster than trying to use plyers.
There are no instructions and it's not obvious where to make the crimp or how to position the tool.
I found that using it on the 4 corners of the downspout and with the side with the larger number of blades facing outward worked best.

5SOOO much better than needlenose pliers!  Aug 27, 2011 By John E. Gross
For years I used needlenose pliers to make joints for the occassional downspout job. This was always a PITA and the joints were inconsistent and sometimes a bit messy. I purchased these crimpers on a whim since I had several downspouts to repair, and what a difference! These are really worth it - no-hassle joints, in just a few seconds, that ALL fit great. I even found myself going back and re-doing existing joints that had been done without crimping pliers. These work great, it takes only a few seconds to crimp all four corners, the crimps are neat and consistent, the tool seems sturdy, and it's very easy to use. I'm just a homeowner and not in the business, so I expect these will last me a lifetime. These are in the same category as an automatic wire stripper - not really necessary for the average homeowner, but once you use them you'll never go back! An added bonus is that the joints are a very consistent depth, so it's much easier to measure, cut, and be sure the pipes will fit as you expect. I'm not very skilled with downspouts, so having things fit properly, on the first try, is a notable difference for me.

5works perfectly  Aug 15, 2009 By Charles O. Butts Jr.
works perfectly........very heavy duty........it needs instructions (put 3 bladed side on the "outside" of downspout)

5Did the job well  Jul 01, 2011 By Jon Holcombe
Replacing a damaged downspout I hacksawed the bottom section off. I then mangled the end with pliers trying to "crimp" it, in order to insert another piece onto it, and frustrated, I weighed my options. I decided to try this crimper (the only other option was to pay a gutter contractor). I am happy to say this tool worked perfectly and I was able to quickly finish my job.

I am now eyeballing another dented downspout, confident that I can replace it now that I have the crimper.
