Best 5" grinder hands down Jul 21, 2010
By R. Costanzo
"Big Island Granite"
Don't buy any other. Used my last one for 5 years and probably cut out a thousand granite sinks and it's still going. Just change the brushes every so often---very easy and blow it out with some compressed air to clean it. Powerful as hell but you'll get used to it. Cannot stress enough that you're throwing away you're money if you buy anything else.

Not what it used to be Aug 25, 2011
By shadowman1jb I Own a granite shop and we used to get a year out of these grinders but now 2 months if we are lucky. I talked with a repair guy and they have different colored labels and he said certain colors are not worth rebuilding. I have about 50 of these that are broken. on the other hand ALL of the manufacturers don't hold up well including Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc... Granite is tough but 5 years on one grinder (previous post ) no way with today's quality in my business. They have changed to cheaper parts or something because these are not what they use to be. so instead of buying them every six months I am buying them 4-6 a month. great for Makita but bad for the consumer. I will find a replacement. I am just disgusted with Makita. John, Piney Flats Tn.

Solid Grinder Apr 23, 2010
By J. Paisner After a lot of research into angle grinders I chose this Makita, and am very satisfied. The grinder has a nice weight to it, the switches and speed setting have a sturdy feel to it, and the tool has plenty of power. Having the variable speed was crucial to a job I was doing that needed lower speeds. At high speed this thing should be able to cut through anything. It's also nice that it is a 5" which is more power and speed that a 4.5".
