Why measuring angles digitally is better! Jul 11, 2000 The Macklanburg-Duncan 92346 SmartTool Angle Finder is only 6 inches long, which allows it to be used in small places. You can get the angle reading even when you have placed the tool in a position where you can not read the display. You simple place the tool in position and press the Hold button, then remove the tool and read the display. The digital readout is easy to read and is accurate to 1/10 of a degree. With an analog angle finder the best you could hope for is plus or minus 1 degree and it would not be able to be used in the above situation. If you need to measure a long object, you can mount the SmartTool Angle Finder in a Macklanburg-Duncan brand 6000/6500 level. On top of all this it is weather and water-resistant.

4.95 stars Sep 18, 2010
By R. Fern I take away a little because the buttons albeit are big and nice, especially if you are wearing gloves, it also turns on easily by itself, so I had to take 0.05 stars away. Accurate, fits in jean pocket, digital read out is easy to photograph. I highly recommend and purchased more for my guys.

Couldn't work without it anymore. Dec 06, 2009
By Paul Tucker I'm a remodeling contractor. I bought one of these when they first came out. When mine bit the dust after 10+ years of abuse I immediately without hesitation replaced it. I wish I could afford to put one in all my levels.

Good for astronomy Jul 17, 2007
By M. South This product is good for those who want to set circles manually with altitude. (You have to a computer/palm with up-to-the minute altitude/azmimuth data to do this.) In my testing when mounted to my dobsonian telescope, the angle of the object is dead-on in a 0.8-degree FOV eyepiece! (+/- 0.1 degree error!!!)
Since it's water-resistant and can handle lower temperatures, this can handle observing in tough environments.
This is a wonderful product not only for home-improvement products, but astronomy! Mark
