Ironclad gloves are made to protect workers' hands better than other work gloves, without feeling clumsy the way so many work gloves can. The first thing we noticed about these gloves is that they're tailored to fit the natural curve hands have in a resting position, rather than being cut straight, so when the hand isn't working, it can actually relax without the glove pulling the fingers in an uncomfortable direction. The palm of this general-utility glove is made of Amara, a synthetic material that mimics the resilience, grip, and comfort of suede while remaining machine-washable and resistant to water damage. High-wear areas are reinforced with thicker pads of this same material to add to the gloves' durability. The fingertips are also reinforced, yet we had no problem with dexterous tasks like picking up coins. We also like the cut of the cuff on these gloves. It comes in tight to the wrist to prevent dirt or other materials from pouring in. Why so many other gloves have gaping cuff designs is a mystery. While the gloves themselves won't be damaged by water, they won't keep your hands dry for long if you're working in really wet conditions. But that can be said of most work gloves, and everything considered, Ironclad gloves are some of the toughest, most comfortable, and easiest-to-work-in gloves we've tried. | | | |

not gloves for work, not gloves for the cold Dec 12, 2003
By Carole Mathey

These gloves aren't the worst I've ever had, but they're really not up to the rigors of outdoor work in cold climates. Wet snow seeps right through the material. And if it's raining, forget it. Your hands will be wet and numb with cold in minutes. And to top it off, they smell musty and mildewy -- eeew! I'm still looking for a decent pair of outdoor work gloves, so I'd love to hear some suggestions.

Don't buy if you work in cold conditions Dec 20, 2002
By Mark G. Nestor I am a carpenter from Upstate New York. I would not recommend these gloves for cold conditions. I have found when the temperatures get really cold they are useless. I had to get a warmer gloves. They are especially cold if they get wet. Your hands are dry but cold. I have found they are good in temperatures above 15 degrees, but for a winter glove you would expect better. They seem to be made alright, but after two days some of the threads have pulled out. We shall see how they hold up. So far after three weeks, they are still holding up with no more problems with the thread. I think this problem comes with the job though.

Your Hands Will Freeze Dec 24, 2002
By A professional carpenter Whoever came up with the name for these gloves should have their head examined and the manufacturer should receive some sort of admonition about false and deceptive advertising. I live and work at an elevation of 8,000 feet and frequently work ouside in temperatures in the teens and twenties. Simply stated, these gloves do not keep my hands from freezing at temperatures below about 32 degreees. To make matters worse, they easily get soaking wet and then take a long time to dry. I wish that I had spent my money on something else.

THESE GLOVES AREN'T EITHER WATERFROOF OR ZERO PLUS CONDITION,THEY GOT SOAKED QUIK AND THE LINER BROKE OFF REALLY EASY, I ENDED UP RIPPING THE LINER OUT AND USE THEM AS A NORMAL GENERAL DUTY GLOVE.....
UNFORTUNATELY THERE ISN'T MANY GLOVES THAT SUIT THOSE CHARACTERISTICS, I'M A BIG IRONCLAD FAN BUT THESE DON'T LIVE TO THEIR EXPECTATION......... TERRIBLE!!

Great WORK gloves Nov 26, 2002 These gloves are not as warm as the gloves I use for playing in the snow, but, that they weren't made for sitting in the snow. These are made for working. I have never found a glove that is as warm that also lets you grab screws, etc. And once you start working, even in North Dakota, this is all you'll need. These fit great for WORK.
