5product bought on advise of another's rating  Jul 04, 2008 By Gene T. Blakely
For some reason or other utility knives have a problem staying home with me. I have always used another well known brand, but when time came to order some to replace my "wandering ones" - and going to Amazon to order, I saw the Irwin advertised and read a couple of the reviews. On the basis of ONE of the reviews, I ordered six of them - and am glad I did. What I had before came with only 1 blade, and you had to work to get the sides apart and back together. Not so with the Irwin. It came with 3 blades, well oiled, and was very easy to install one of them. Not only that, but the knife is slightly curved to give one more pressure and also, for me at least, a more accurate cut. I, like the other reviewer, highly recommend this utility knife.

5Good rugged knife.  Oct 24, 2007 By RugerRedhawk
This knife is a good size, and it comes with a good quality blade also. It will hold up to a lot of abuse.

3eh  Aug 12, 2010 By Oleg Rakhmanchik "oleg106"
Its ok for the price, but there are much much better knives (Bessey) for a few bucks more.

cons

- Very bulky and thick. Takes up a bunch of room and gets in the way when you try to use it
- You need a screwdriver to change blades, you need to take the knife apart for this.
- The blade retracts when you apply pressure to it - major con

pros

- Price
- Can store a few extra blades inside

5The last utility knife you will ever need and the one you'll like the most  Jun 08, 2011 By robgman
Up until a year ago I was in the book business. I say that because I opened several boxes a day for a long time. I bought this utility knife about a year and a half ago. I had owned two or three others before this one.

This is a fantastic knife for the following reasons:

It is the most ergonomically comfortable design of a box knife I've ever owned.

It is incredibly sturdy and built to last.

It comes with three blades and the blades are fantastic. We use this knife several times a week and after a year and a half we are still on our first of the three enclosed blades - now to me, that's an indication of an excellent quality blade!

Simply summarized, this is an outstanding box cutter/utility knife that I believe you can buy with a great deal of confidence and one that you will love, and once you own it will wonder how, prior to owning it, you ever lived without it.

5Nice Product: 3 Blades Included  Feb 18, 2011 By Amazon Addict
This is a nice product. You do need to use a screwdriver to install the blade, and will need to use a screwdriver to change out the blade, which is not the most convenient, but it does make the unit very solid. The blades are double-sided, so once it gets dull, you can flip it around and you'll have a fresh blade. It comes with 3 blades, which really mean 6 blades, since they are double sided. For the money, this is probably one of the best utility knife deals on Amazon.
