Quality Built Hunting Knife Feb 26, 2011
By J. T. This is a great knife at a reasonable price. I originally purchased one of these knives more than 10+ years ago and have been very impressed with the quality of its workmanship. This knife has weathered many hunting seasons in honorable fashion, which is indicative of American built pride. The handle is perfect in size as it allows plenty of surface area for a proper grip while cleaning game, etc., I have found the grip material comfortable, slip resistant, and it looks as good as when I bought it several years ago. The blade has also proven sturdy and retains a great edge. This knife has been subjected to the rigors of normal hunting elements/tasks and has held up well. The blade has always been cleaned after use and it has resisted rust and stains despite many years of use. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a quality built, durable, American Made Hunting Knife.
NOTE: I recently purchased two more of these knives to give as gifts. The order was received quickly in just a few days.
Nothing fancy, but it works. May 24, 2012

With so many Gerber knives (and their competitors) being made in China but sold at USA prices, I was thrilled to find that Amazon still had the USA version of the Gator, although it was sold as used and may have been a return. In any case, while it doesn't have any flashy distinguishing features except perhaps the grip, that's pretty refreshing in this era of tactical knives, survival knives, multi-tools and so on. For some reason, I thought that the Gator had a finger guard "flipper" for fast opening, and the absence of both that and thumb stud(s) is the only reason I can't rightly give it five stars. That aside, it's the right size to fit in a pocket as a work knife or in its included belt sheath. There are certain tasks that I wouldn't subject a folding knife to if a fixed blade is available, as the moving parts aren't always up to the abuse, but the Gator would have a place in a tool box, tackle box or emergency kit. Personally, I'll probably bring it along on fishing trips because of the grip.
great belt-worn knife Jul 19, 2011
By doc Slightly larger than I had been led to expect by the pics, this knife is a keeper.
Meets all my requirements for a belt-worn sheath knife.

Best knife ever made...in China. May 31, 2011
By Hawaiiensis I've owned a few gerbers and the gator is the best knife available. The grippy rubber on the handle never slips, even when you get wet (it's intended for gutting animals...). Well weighted, and the lifetime warranty is unbeatable. Too bad they don't make them in the USA anymore; I'd go 5 stars if they did. Meh, still a great knife.
