Because this reputable example of framelock design caught on admirably among knife lovers...making the Paraframe a mainstay of the industry. But we figured there's no merit in being stingy, so we worked up a total of eight versions. And the people are pleased. There is a simplicity to this knife that relates as much to function as it does to form. Its a breeze to open. The clip point blade configuration is ideal for cutting in close quarters. Openness rules the day where the handle is concerned there's more air than metal so its quite lightweight and quite easy to keep clean. Clip a Paraframe into your pocket, and you're fully equipped to take care of business. Your only challenge is figuring out which one... Does not live up to Gerber brand name: Loose bolts and stiff opening Dec 04, 2008
By William B. Dwinnell IV I really wanted to like this knife more than I did.
Pros:
- Blade cuts well, and stays sharp
- Blade locks open
- Light weight
Cons:
- Opening is not smooth enough, making use with one hand difficult
- Handle bolts occasionally loosen
- Belt clip is extremely stiff
Note: Use a Torx T-6 screwdriver to tighten the handle bolts.
Update: One of the handle bolts loosened to the point of falling out, along with the spacer. After another reviewer helpfully suggested contacting Gerber for a replacement, I did, and Gerber responded very quickly with a new bolt and spacer, free of charge. Also, I second his and Gerber's suggestion that any loose bolts be secured with Loctite blue.

Extremely Versatile Jun 20, 2010
By Scout I carried this knife for a year and a half, and I loved it. It is one of the lightest knives out there for the price. The handle is extremely versatile, and can be used to open paint cans and even be used as a bottle opener. The blade is the right size for EDC. The only complaints I have is that the serration is too coarse, which is a general problem with Gerber, and the steel does not have an even hardness. I am good with a sharpening stone, and I was not able to get a straight bevel on the blade.

Best knife I have May 24, 2011
By Ben When I got this knife my first thoughts were very good. It was very sharp and cut great. Since then I have used it almost every day. The serrations on the blade work very well and do not wear out easily. I have had this knife for three years and it still works great.
Worth every penny Feb 10, 2012
By Stephen K. I bought this knife at a hardware store a few years ago. I've used it as my every day carry knife and it's held up well considering the abuse I've put it through. I've used it as a utility knife in a warehouse, prepped tinder with it, used the back end of the handle to open bottles (impress the ladies!), as well as other things that a knife isn't particularly well suited for such as prying out staples and striking a fire steel with the blade side. When used as intended, the edge holds really well. However, I suggest you use an alternate tool if you want to pry staples or scrape a fire steel, as these were the only things I've done that actually somewhat damaged the blade.
The steel used is decent, though IMO it is a bit soft as I've never been able to get a true razor edge on it. But I guess that's fine since my razor does a better job of shaving anyway.
I can't speak for what some of the other reviews have mentioned about problems with opening the blade and screws coming loose. I've had several folding knives before that have lost screws, but this thing is rock solid in that department - I've never had to make any adjustments. As far as opening, the mechanism works quite well and will open with the flick of a wrist. I do try to keep all my knifes free of debris and oil any moving parts occasionally, not sure if this may have been part of the problem for some other users that had issues with it opening.
Overall, this is a good reliable knife that has quite an amount of utility packed into it. Definitely worth purchasing if you're looking for a trusty pocket knife.
