 Excellent but dangerous Mar 05, 2009

During testing of this knife I accidentally dropped it on my foot. It cut through my jeans, sock, skin, muscle, bone and tendon sheath. It is very solidly build and I would absolutely recommend it.

I bought this knife looking for a solid all around hunting/survival/perhaps fishing knife. It has a good heft, its well made. I like its variety of features (serrated/straight blade, holes to lash onto spear, pointy butt end for breaking glass, flat portion on butt for use as hammer, sharpener in case) but I don't like how difficult it is to unsheath. It is held into the sheath too tightly, and the rubber drags on the way out, but otherwise, a nice knife.

Used it outside the manufacturers parameters, got me and my squad out of a bad spot with our vehicles. Its better to have a knife this awesome and not need it, than any alternative.

This is a great knife. Very solid, well made and surprisingly light weight.
It is VERY sharp right out of the package. It'll shave the hair off your arm with no real effort.
It comes with an extra strap so that the sheath can be secured to your thigh if desired.
The sheath is pretty tight, making it difficult to pull straight out. I find giving it a slight twist when pulling out makes it easier to remove. It definitely won't fall out on it's own.
Would recommend to a friend!

I purchased this knife thinking it would be the new LMF II advertised on Gerber's website but it wasn't. I was so happy to get this knife in I really didn't care. After opening the product I thought it looked and felt amazing. Then I inspected the knife and realized that the handle was loose. It made a clicking noise as I pressed both sides of the handle. I emailed Gerber and they said to send it back in. I sent it in and they finally sent me the newest model 22-41629. So if you plan on buying this knife from this seller expecting it to be the newest model know that it isn't. I spent a few dollars more thinking it would be the newest one and it fell short of my expectations. BUY FROM SOMEONE ELSE. This is why I gave this seller a low score. But after the new knife came in I can say that it was everything that I was expecting and more. Gerber customer care was very helpful. I will buy from Gerber again!
