The EVO is a lightweight, straight-spined clip folder. Designed with a series of seven slanting oval openings in the anodized aluminum handle, it's one of the lightest folding knives that Gerber makes. The fine-edge blade is constructed of 440 stainless steel and is coated with titanium nitride for added corrosion resistance. There's a thumb stud for easy one-handed opening, and a liner lock and finger guard for an extra measure of safety. It's a modern version of a traditional straight spine knife.

5Good Knife for the Money  Jul 28, 2010 By J. Perryman
I bought this knife a year ago looking to replace my first knife, an old heavy buck. I saw this on Amazon and it looked like a pretty cool knife to me. It arrived very sharp but the pivot screw was to tight. I don't have a star-head screw driver so i found a flat head just wide enough to loosen it up.

Pros:
1. The knife deploys quickly.
2. The knife locks securely.

Cons:
1. It's made of 440 steel.

To start with, 440 steel isn't bad. It just isn't that good. When I bought this knife I didn't know anything about steel but that has changed in the last year. 440 steel has the same carbon content as AUS8 steel, a common 15-50 dollar knife steel. However, I prefer 440 over AUS8 because of a higher chronium content. That means it won't rust. 440 is fairly easy to sharpen and somewhat holds it's edge. I prefer 154CM now but 440 works, too.

I like this knife but I was disappointed when I saw it at Walmart. Price is the same on Amazon, though. Over all this is a great knife for the money. Worth [...] bucks.

5Huge  Mar 21, 2010 By Sidney Haylock "Captain"
I bought this knife for its simplicity and am not disappointed. This is not an assisted opening knife. It is bigger than it appears. But its light weight and it comes razor sharp and ready to use. I have used this knife to open young coconuts to drink the water and have used it to peel sugar cane. So far there is no play in the main joint and it remains sharp. Good buy.

5NICE  Jan 18, 2010 By R. L. Robertson
I still like my Buck 110 (and clones) for heavy cutting. This gerber has a huge advantage of opening with one hand. The factory bevel makes this knife take a very sharp edge and keeps it sharp (as compared to the 110 knives).

5Awesome knife. Period.  May 01, 2011 By M. Egan
This knife is sturdy, light, it feels good in the hand, its blade holds its edge well, is very sharp, etc etc etc. For the price, this is a freaking steal.

Definitely a recommend.
