Gerber Silver Trident Review Mar 09, 2010
By Kodiak We do a lot of training with knives for law enforcement as well as military, it is always a challenge to find a knife that lives up to what the manufacture claims it will do. I have been wanting to get my hands on the Silver Trident for quite some time now and when it finally happened I was blown away. The feel of this knife is one of great balance and comfort the handle conformed to my hand instantly, the guard allows you to feel safe either bare handed or with gloves on, even large padded gloves. The blade is perfect as far as I am concerned extremely durable and holds a great edge, even after many cut test, that I put it through. The striker pommel is great for having to break out glass or drive a stake in the ground. We consider every piece of gear we carry to be a tool and the Silver Trident has fast become my favorite tool. It would be impossible to select just one knife as the best of the best, however if you wished to do so the Silver Trident by Gerber would have to be in the top 3.....

Gerber Silver Trident double serrated edge. May 03, 2010
By Daniel A. Hansen The knife is made of 154CM which is a high quality stainless steal. As far as how sharp the knife, it was really sharp just shy of razor sharp. It seems that this steal in terms of it's sharpness is rated just below S30V. Do not be fooled into thinking that this knife does not hold a great edge though. I had submitted quite a few cutting tests. The knife did not function as well as I had hoped on the paper test, but I soon realized that it is because the knife has a thick blade on it (Don't get me wrong it still cut through the paper fairly nicely and retained a great edge). I next moved on to cutting some bark off of a tree (numerous times). This is were I got a little excited. It cut like warm butter. I had to use little force to make the cuts. I then went to the apple skin test. I was peeling the apple easily. The peels were so thinly sliced. It was a thing of beauty. The knife was extremely well balanced and it was some what of a lighter knife considering the size, than smaller knifes that I have. The saw like blade on the back of the blade is really sweet too. I had cut numerous branches off a tree, and those came down really quite easily. The handle of the knife is really comfy and it does not slip. This is another highlight of the knife. Also the stainless steal butt end is really nice, you can smash stuff with it. It sort of acts as a hammer. In the end the knife is still as sharp as when I got it. If I lost this knife I would get it again. It is a good all around utility-survival knife.
To review.
-High quality stainless steal.
-Great balance and weight.
-Awesome grip on the handle.
-Saw like serration on back side of blade.
-Retains edge very well.

bad to the bone Sep 06, 2011
By D. gravlee I bought this knife from my local gun / knife shop.
Ive taken it camping and will be using it as my knife for an upcoming off-road motorcycle trip across the country.
The bottom of the knife can be used as a hammer. ive hammered a nail into a 2x4 with it.
the blade is seriously tough.
well balanced knife. ive been able to throw it with consistency.
the hand guards are awesome. they are there so your hand does not slide down the blade when you jab the knife into something. Without those guards im sure i would have cut my fingers off when testing this bad boy out.
I stabbed a tree every way that a tree can be stabbed hacked slashed at full strength and never worried for a second about losing my grip on this knife or about my fingers getting cut off.
best knife around. period.

great knife but disappointing sheath! Jul 06, 2011
By Jem I bought this knife for my husband. He saw it on the Gerber website and just had to have it. In person, my husband says "it's an awesome knife." Everyday he is doing something with it. The only thing my husband is upset about is the sheath. He knew from other reviews the sheath was disappointing but he wanted it anyways. Now everytime he looks at the knife he sighs real hard because the knife is so cool and the sheath is crummy. However, in the end, he loves the knife and is keeping it.

Silver Trident Feb 15, 2009
By Dorena Mountain Man I am impressed with the quality of the materials used and the fit and finish of
this knife. It is light weight. The handle provides a very good grip.
The sharpness given this knife , as is usual for Gerber, is exceptional. I also
like the sharpening and serrations on the back edge. This is a very capable weapon/tool.
One thing I would have liked, to seen as part of the package, was a sharpening device
included in the pouch provided for it on the sheath.
