good product Jun 13, 2010
By quality hawk A dual mode tester that lights blue when it is in proximity to a live wire and glows red when at the source. The flashlight goes on when switching the tester on, no option here but not a bad thing. Comparing it to the smaller LVD1 it should be noted that they are two different testers. LVD1 is 40 to 300 volts, the LVD2 is 90 to 600 and this is better suited to commercial/industrial applications. For residential applications (120volts) the LVD1 is preferred as it is a little more sensitive in both modes and will actually pick up a potential thru the finish plate of an outlet or switch.

Just OK.... Nov 26, 2007
By PBRStreetGang I rate it "just OK" because the switch in the top seems to go bad prematurely (I've had 3 of these in the last 6 months). The switch goes from dependable ON/OFF to sometimes it will turn on and sometimes it won't. I expected more from Fluke and at over $30 a pop, it should be more than just a flashlight that sometimes works (the 90-600VAC function will only work if the light is on). Bottom line, I say save your money until Fluke gets the switch issue resolved....

Fluke LVD2 Volt Light Jun 08, 2009
By Stephen H. Chatfield This is my second Fluke LVD2 Volt Light, having left my first one at a customer's house. I find it an indispensable little tool I use constantly throughout my work day. It is sensitive enough to sense voltage through glass and plastic covers and accurate enough to determine if voltage is lost across a fuse. When I'm not checking for voltages, it doubles as a very handy pocket LED flashlight.

No sound means unusable outside Oct 07, 2010
By Exscotticus This unit is nothing special as far as features go. Moreover, it lacks sound. That matters because when you're outside in the sun, you will not see the red/green glow. Frankly, If the name "Fluke" wasn't there, I doubt the LVD2 would be as highly rated as it is.
