5It's A Good Battery Pack  Jun 26, 2009 By Gadget_Inspector "Gadget_Inspector"
I bought this battery pack because it looked like it would fit in the Ryobi 14.4 tools. It doesn't - by a fraction of an inch. BUT, the NiCad batteries from the Denali battery case will fit perfectly into a Ryobi case. So, what you have to do is take out all of the screws from your dead Ryobi battery case and remove the dead batteries. You may have to pry them out a little bit and the batteries will come out as a complete set. Now remove all of the screws from the Denali battery case and remove that battery set. Like the Ryobi batteries, you may have to pry the set out. Now, install the Denali batteries in the Ryobi case and replace the screws that hold the case together. The Ryobi charger will recognize the Denali battery set and charge them correctly. After using my "new" battery pack, I've noticed that the Denali batteries charge faster and last longer than the Ryobi batteries did when in use. The Ryobi battery pack only lasted about 8 months before it died. I hope the Denali batteries will last a little longer than that. We'll see. And the Denali battery pack is less than half the cost of a new Ryobi battery pack.

4Killer price for replacement cells for Ryboi 14.4v  Jun 07, 2009 By C. Rogers
Sadly I don't own a Denali drill, but I was able to easily crack the case on this unit and take the Sub-C battery cells out and put them into my dead Ryobi 14.4v batteries. Beats paying $50 for an "official" replacement battery. 5 minutes and I've got new batteries!

4Denali 14.4V NiCad Battery Pack  Dec 10, 2009 By Howard W. Autry
I used this battery pack to rebuild a 14.4V Harbor Freight battery pack, which is no longer available. I rearranged the cells from the Denali to fit into the Harbor Freight battery shell and completed the connections using nickel strips from the old HF cells. The rebuilt cells work great, and gave me a savings of $35.00 over having the cells rebuilt commercially.

5Great, and no soldering!!  Jun 13, 2010 By Karl Zimmermann
Did as everyone said and switched batterys, but if you take the metal clip along with thermal unit and switch whole thing, reapplying the aluminum tape to the new battery, it's a one shot operation. Got out my gun, solder, flux, all for nothing. This is a great bargain for 5 minutes(my old batterys were stuck!).

5Absolute a good value  Apr 21, 2010 By B. J. Lum "BJ3200"
I purchased this based on the first reviewer's opinion and I totally agree that the battery is definitely a good substitute for the original Ryobi 14.4 volt. Just transfer the batteries inside the Denali case to the Ryobi case. There is one additional step if you want the unit charger to let you know when the battery is fully charged you will need to cut the small white circuit unit and solder it to the Denali battery. I also took the black plastic support from the Ryobi to place it on the Denali battery set to maintain the same height. The soldering is an optional step, but makes it behave like the original Ryobi. It is rather a simple step, but it requires you know someone or if you can solder it yourself. Otherwise I would just skip this step. You are saving 50% on the cost and just for a simple housing transfer and you are done.
