Denali's cordless battery smart charger will charge all slide mountable Denali NiCad batteries ranging from 12 to 24 volts. This charger effectively reduces down time by providing a full charge in only 1 hour. Once charging is complete an alarm will sound and the unit will automatically shut off limiting the negative effects of over charging. A year after I bought the entire Denali 18v set, the BATTERIES ARE UNAVAILABLE. And the helpful little note from Amazon reads: "not sure if or when this item will be available." Amazon, this is absolutely unforgivable. At the very least, a responsible company would tell us if some other battery will fit the tool. And yet, Amazon still sells the 18v tools as "bare-tool," with no warning that batteries aren't available! And, yeah, after a year, the batteries (I have 2) are pretty much shot. I can't rate the charger very high if there is no source for batteries, right?

This thing looks kind of funny, but it gets the job done. It works like any other cordless-tool charger; you put the battery on it, and it charges it.

This thing charges the batteries pretty quickly -- and the batteries last long enough that the one in the cradle can easily charge before I've run out of juice on the second battery.

It features lights to tell you what it's doing (charging, trickle/maintaining, or charged), it beeps when the battery is ready, and the cord is very long (6 feet or so?) so it's easy to hide the charger under a desk or something or route the cord around things.

This charger seems to work as well as any of the more expensive units I own. It charges fast and doesn't seem to produce any excessive heat. It does not have mounting holes so it can be wall mounted. I prefer to wall mount my cordless chargers in my workshop it keeps them cleaner and makes them easier to find. That is the only improvement I can think of for this charger. As it is it functions well. I am very pleased with it.
