5Indusrial Production-Light Gauge Steel, Plastic, & Stainless  Mar 17, 2009 By DoogieWater "Electrabuzz"
I have utilized several manufacturer's hole saw mandrels performing electrical work, routinely drilling light guage steel, aluminum, bronze, silicon bronze, stainless steel, plastics, and wood. Some mandrels are difficult to change from one size hole saw to the next because of inexpensive hex set screws stripping. Soooo aggrevating! Others, made like the Dewalt mandrel compare with an exposed spring release, but the spring being exposed, many times shavings interfere, it can be damaged, ruining the spring and making it difficult to unscew the locknut. I have found the Dewalt Mandrel to be easy and durable. Of course, drilling with hole saws can be dangerous and one should always be cautious, not agressive, allowing the saw to perform at it's own rate, especially when penetrating a variety of materials. I have yet to have this mandrel break or cause problems. It has proven to be very reliable, and I have been utilizing it for almost a year, drilling hundreds of holes (2-3/8" - 4-1/2"). I am sure, as with most attachments for power tools, even with the best of care, they will eventually have to be replaced. But, at this rate, my DeWalt Mandrel has paid for itself several times and has proven to be very effective and safe. "SAFETY FIRST"

3DW1803 Mandrel  Oct 17, 2007 By John D. Wheeler
Appears to be a well built product. I've had frustrations with the quick change collar releasing while using it and results in a stuck mandrel in the hole saw. Today, after many years of use, one of the two pins in the quick connect broke off. I'm confused how it managed it, since the engineering would make one think it would be impossible.

5Great Buy  Jul 30, 2011 By Hugh Arnold "Leaking"
The new release design that hole saws are using now justifies buying all new ones. Just make sure your drill is large enough to handle it. 5/8" works best.

I found out later that this item comes in most new sets as well.

5Very Pleased  Apr 25, 2012 By DeusEx
I've used this on two occations now and it's a beauty. Changes of hole blades take less than 30 seconds. It's a rock solid combo once installed. Centering sin't a problem with it's pilot point bit. It's a simple tool and deserves a better review. However all I can say is it works. The largest holes I've cut are 2.5" so I can't speak to what happens with the larger 4-6" saws but I would expect no problems. Also and I have not tried this yet, but it appears it may work with the Milwaukee brand of interchangable saws as well.

5Great product  Mar 26, 2012 By Gigabyte
Purchased for my DEWALT DCD760KL drill. The tool-free quick-release collar works great. It didn't take me long to break the drill bit but it was easy to replace. Great price and fast shipping from Amazon.
