5Longevity is the true test of lineman pliers.  Jan 06, 2012 By Sage of the Wabash
The first pair of lineman pliers I bought when I started my 4 year apprenticeship with the IBEW were Channellock 349's. I was a second year app. and I was taking out temporary lighting. The romex was hot and I turned my pliers into a poor pair of wire strippers. Most of the journeyman I worked with had Klein pliers, so I bought 9 inch Klein's. I just couldn't get the grip and cutting power that I had with my 9 inch Channellock pliers. About a year later, around 1971 I put the Kleins in the garage and bought myself another pair of Channellock 349's. I worked 15 years construction with IBEW and 25 years maintenance with Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo IN. I could cut quarter inch steel cable with my 349's at age 62 and they, my Channellock 349's were 40 years old. Time does tell the quality of tools.

5:-)  Apr 15, 2012 By OPT
if you are looking at these pliers, you know what they are for and there are none better. You won't find these at the home store's since home users would have no clue on how to use them.

5Very nice tool  Nov 28, 2011 By W. Barnett
I decided to replace all of my cheaper tools with Channellock brand products, after breaking two Work Force tools from Home Depot. The Channellocks cost 3-4 times more, but, I'm less likely to break a finger or cut myself. I've been pleased with the tool.

5Professional grade linesmans pliers  Sep 11, 2011 By Thomas Mactaggart "Coastie"
Exactly what I wanted in quality and performance. These are really the only pliers I have ever used that cut wire and keep cutting it as long as you own them.

4The best Linesman pliers you never see in stores  Feb 21, 2011 By 00taws6
I'm fairly new to the electrical trade, but my teacher used these pliers his whole career, and he recommended them to me. Immediately I saw the difference, new out of the box I sprayed them down with a little silicone spray and they drop right open like a well worked set of pliers should. The coating that's on them lasts for some time and prevents that thin layer of rust, works well but dose not last forever. There is only two problems I see with them, first, I can never find them in stores when i need a new pare I always have to order them. Second, I wish the back would clamp down better on fish-tapes
