 Bosch quality at a great price May 04, 2009

Bosch makes a top-of-the-line blade. They really deliver. Much better than "big-box" store prices. The case included is really good. Good assortment of blades for the occasional user such as myself. Professionals would probably buy contractor packages. Combined with my Bosch jigsaw, makes me look for excuses to get out the saw.

This is a great value providing a wide selection of high quality blades. The case looks impressive from the outside but does not protect the blades from dulling each other. To remedy this I took some simple aquarium clear air tubing that you can purchase at any pet store (for example [...]) and cut it into lengths equal to the blades. I then cut a lengthwise slit into the tubes and slipped them over the teeth of the blades. This provides easy on/off protection to each blade and does not consume too much addition volume in the box, allowing all the blades to be stored.

This is a very nice kit of blades to get you started. Includes a nice variety, to cover different tasks. The included case is sturdy but not very convenient to use. I usually struggle to get the inner transparent compartment flaps open. Also, I agree with another reviewer that it would be nice if the blades did not rattle around in the case, but were individually protected. The good news is that the case fits nicely into the case that came with my Bosch jig saw, so that the saw and the blades are stored together.

In all fairness, I did not purchase this product for just the case though it was the reason to not go with a smaller number of blades. I have a couple of Bosch tools and accessories and these jigsaw blades are typical of Bosch quality. This is not meant as a bad thing or a good thing. If you like or dislike Bosch products let that guide your purchase decision.
But, as I said, the included case is a joke. Why? Though the case is a clam shell design that seems fairly sturdy, the interior of the case provides no separation for individual blades. Each half of the clam is divided into two sections by an extruded plastic rib. Each of these halves also has a clear plastic cover which keeps the blades in their respective compartment. This cover quickly becomes an added annoyance since it does not remain open on its own.
So, toss the case into a drawer numerous times or carry it in your pocket on the job site... how long do you think those unprotected blades are going to remain sharp?
If Bosch is going to include an added incentive like this case, the least they could do is put a little effort into a proper design which avoids damage to the tool you are storing.
So, 5 stars for blade quality and selection, 1 star for the case I might use for something other than jigsaw blades, and 3 Stars for the overall value to me.

Excellent; excellent; excellent!!! You can't get a better value on jigsaw blades than this set. Has a great crosssection of blades for 90% of any work you will ever do with your saw, without any useless blades.
