An "ok" product... but how long will it last? Oct 17, 2007
By CA I found it easy to install on my Bosch Colt tilt base, I don't see how anyone could break something while putting it on.
The plastic "ears" that straddles the base clamp flanges is indeed on the thin side and gave me the impression of being prone to breakage if too much pressure is placed on them by an overly tight base clamp, so I backed off the clamp locknut a bit to reduce the pressure.
I don't think this base cover will hold up under the rigors of a professional installer/craftsman, but it should do fine for us weekend garage warrior types. And if it doesn't... then I'll try a few strips of 3M non-skid safety tape on the aluminum base.

Why wasn't this included with the base unit? May 30, 2010
By AgedWireHead This fits the marvelous Bosch Colt one-hand router in all its various forms. For example:
Bosch PR20EVSK Colt Palm Grip 5.7 Amp 1-Horsepower Fixed Base Variable Speed Router with Edge Guide
This covers the aluminum base where the operator holds it, providing insulation between the operators hand and the aluminum.
So why wasn't it included with the router? I am guessing, but here are my observations:
1) A lot of people don't use the router continuously enough to heat the router base so that it is uncomfortable to hold. If you do, you want this cover. I appreciate the cooler grip.
2) It increases the diameter of the base slightly, so folks with small hands might find the router less comfortable with this installed, but I don't.
It took me about a minute to install this on the router (it goes in the base clamp). It does not obstruct the depth gage or the clamp.
If you need this, you will know it, so buy it. If you don't need it, don't worry about it. It is rather like the option of heated seats or a battery heater on a car: if you need it you know it and buy it, but if you live on the Gulf Coast and never venture North in the winter, you don't need to know those options exist; you worry about the air conditioning instead.
Love it Sep 05, 2011
By NINZANSTUDIO Bought this cover for the standard fixed base supplied with the router. It keeps the heat off my fingers and lets me run the router a bit longer. Not much else to say. Perhaps Bosch should have included this with the router.

I bought this to keep me from getting a little buzz in my shop as I did 2 summers ago on a very humid day in my basement shop using my P-C 310 router. I had no problems with it like the other person with a broken mounting hole. Do think it would be a lot better if it was made out of rubber as the top cover on the motor is. You have a better grip on the rubber compared to the hard ABS plastic this is made out of.But it is only a few dollars. One time it was $6.00 and the next time I bought it again it was $3.00 dollars.
Okay for the job but not well made Feb 06, 2007
By Barryace One of the attachment flanges broke during installation of the base cover. Unlike the other side, that piece was connected to the whole by only the thinnest of plastic. So of course it snapped with slight pressure while fitting it in place. On the other hand, it appears that the way the cover is shaped to fit will be sufficient to hold it to the router base. I've now used the router with the cover twice and it seems okay, not particularly sturdy but okay for general use.
