Stiff and not very water resistant May 19, 2012
By Pinkhat I picked up a package of three rolls of this tape at a warehouse mainly because it was the only kind they had in stock and I thought "oh goody, what could be better than high performance duct tape!" Well, the answer to that question is: good old regular duct tape.
This high performance duct tape is thicker and stiffer than the original duct tape so it really isn't nearly as versatile.
I'm not quite sure what they mean by "water resistant," though. I used it to cover a few small holes in a piece of plastic that was protecting firewood from rain and just a few days later, after just one light rain, half of the tape had started to come off. I then tried again with a new piece of duct tape on the outside of the plastic and another piece on the inside so that the two pieces of duct tape would bond well over the holes. This time the patch lasted a bit longer, but not much.
The claim that it removes cleanly without leaving a sticky residue is true, but I much prefer the original duct tape, which may indeed leave a residue, but is a lot more versatile.
